Watch Movies On Your TV Through Your PC
67There’s no doubt that the ability to watch movies on your computer is incredibly convenient. You don’t need to run out to the video store or wait for a worthy movie to show up on TV. If there’s one little nagging issue about how you watch movies from your PC though, it’s the fact that most of us have small monitors, and sitting in computer chairs for hours on end is not exactly comfortable, even in the most posh of computer chairs.
Another common problem is the inability for more than a couple people to realistically watch movies on a computer monitor at the same time. If you have a few friends over, watching movies online simply isn’t a viable option.
Of course, no one said you had to watch movies on your PC monitor only (and if they did, they were wrong). No, with the right equipment you can hook your PC up to your TV so that you can watch movies, play games, or even just surf the internet right on your TV screen. Ideally you’ll want to have a newer TV with high resolution, as PC video on older TV’s may be extremely grainy or not work altogether. Assuming you do have a TV you’d like to hook your PC up to, let’s look at what you’ll likely need to get the job done and start to watch movies on your TV.
A PC to TV Converter
For most people with a newer PC and TV, all you’ll need is a single cable to hook them up. Your video card should have inputs on the back that can be used to connect the two devices together. In the event you need to go a different route, you can purchase a PC to TV converter.
These converters will connect to the USB port on your PC, and can then be connected to your TV however you wish, be it through the S-Video, HDMI, or A/V composite slots. You can even get wireless converters in the event your PC and TV aren’t in the same room. These devices come with separate boxes, one of which hooks up to your PC, the other to your TV. These devices then feed their signals to each other wirelessly (well, wirelessly to each other at least).
An added benefit of this is that for anyone who already has a DVD or Blu-Ray drive on their PC, you no longer need to run out and buy a separate player for your TV. You can simply use your PC’s drive to watch those movies on your TV.
Any movie lover should absolutely consider hooking their PC up to their TV and taking advantage of the benefits of a larger screen and more comfortable seating. The flexibility of PC movie watching, and the comfort and style of your living room comes together to offer the best of both worlds.
